Audubon Park is a 350 acre stretch of lush greenery on the banks of the Mississippi River, developed on the former plantation of Etienne de Boré who founded the granulated-sugar industry in Louisiana.

Audubon Park is a 350 acre stretch of lush greenery on the banks of the Mississippi River, developed on the former plantation of Etienne de Boré who founded the granulated-sugar industry in Louisiana. The popular Audubon Zoo, home to over 2000 animals, is part of the park. The park has a 1.7 mile long track for running, walking, rollerblading, and biking. The riverside area, called as the Fly by locals, has sporting and picnic facilities. Other facilities include the Audubon Park Golf Course, swimming pool, equestrian stables, tennis courts, and soccer field. A wide variety of wading and diving birds can be spotted at the lagoons in the park.
