Delphi is a historic site that also features in classical Greek mythology. The Archaeological Site of Delphi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its significance in the ancient world. It was the site of the Panhellenic Pythian Games of Ancient Greece which were a forerunner of the modern Olympic Games. It has the ruins of the 4th century BC Temple of Apollo, the reconstructed Treasury of Athens which was built to commemorate Greek victory over Persians in the Battle of Marathon, and a 5th century stoa.
