Keizersgracht, the Emperor's Canal, is the widest of the 3 major canals in the city centre of Amsterdam and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Seventeenth-Century Canal Ring Area of Amsterdam inside the Singelgracht, recognized for illustrating expertise in hydraulics, civil engineering, town planning, construction and architectural knowhow. Located between Herengracht and Prinsengracht, the 31 metre wide waterway is great for boating in summers and ice-skating in winters. Named after Emperor Maximilian of Austria, it is flanked by landmarks such as the 17thcentury Greenland warehouses with spout gables on nos. 40-44, Rode Hoed (Red Hat) at no. 102, Huis met de Hoofden - House with Heads of 6 Roman gods at no. 123, Amnesty International HQ at Coymans House on no. 177, Onze Lieve Vrouwekerk at no. 220, Felix Meritis at no. 324, Opera aan de Gracht at no. 517, John Adams Huis at no. 529, Huis Marseille Museum for Photography at no. 401, Keizersgracht Church at no. 566, Foam Photography Museum in the 18thcentury building at no. 609, Geelvinck Hinlopen Huis at no. 633, and Museum van Loon on nos. 672-674. The Homomonument (Gay Monument) is also on the banks of the Keizersgracht.
