Standing on a rocky outcrop at 73 meters above sea level, the Punta Carena Lighthouse in southwest Capri beams out onto the Tyrrhenian Sea every 3 seconds. The 28 metre tall octagonal brick tower with lantern and gallery stands above a two-storey building. In use since 1867, it emits the second brightest beams in Italy, after the lighthouse in Genoa.
