The Coptic Museum within the Babylon Fortress in Cairo showcases the largest collection of Egyptian Christian artifacts in the world, with over 16000 objects that throw light on the ancient history of the city. Its collection of Coptic Egyptian art showcases Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman influence, and includes funerary stelae from Kom Abou Billou with Horus falcon iconography that goes back to the Pharaonic era; stone carvings from Abu Mina, Saqqara, Ahnas, Oxyrhynchos, Antinoe and Bawit including Greco-Roman reliefs with Christian symbols; ivory carvings from Alexandria; wood work such as the door of the Church of Saint Barbara, altar of the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus, and lintel of the Hanging Church.
