Centrul Civic is a complex of modern buildings of government offices and apartments along the Union Boulevard built by the Ceausescu regime in the 1980s. The Union Blvd was known as the Bulevardul Victoria Socialismului or the Boulevard of the Victory of Socialism till the Romanian Revolution of 1989, and modeled after the Champs Elysees in Paris. The complex includes the Parliament Palace and Casa Poporului.
