  Neighbourhoods and Streets

The Bucharest Old Town is the historic centre where Bucharest was founded on the banks of the Dambovita River, and dates back to the 14th century. It flourished in the 15th - 16th centuries, and was an established commercial center till the 19th century. Though it survived World War II, it fell into neglect during Nicolae Ceausescu's regime, and was renovated in the late 1990s. Walk around the area to see the Old Palace, Stavropoleos Church, and National History Museum.
