Built for industrialist Armand Solvay, it is noted for its spacious open plan, wide stained glass windows and skylights for the diffusion of light, pointillist murals by Theo van Rysselberghe, and iron work on the stairways. The 4 storey museum is mostly private, with a museum that is open to public.
