The Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk or Church of Our Lady is noted for its beautiful mixed architecture and the important art treasures it houses. Built over 3 centuries (13th-15th), it combines Scheldt, French and Brabantine Gothic styles. The soaring Gothic brick spire of the Church rises 400 feet into the air, making it one of the tallest brickwork towers in the world. Highlights include the Carrara marble Madonna and Child sculpture by Michelangelo, a painting of the Crucifixion of Christ by Anthony van Dyck, rococo pulpit by Jan Antoon Garemijn and the gilded bronze tombs of Charles the Bold and his daughter Mary of Burgundy.
