Böttcherstraße, Bremen

Böttcherstraße is a historic street in the heart of Bremen that is noted for its impressive architectural emsemble.

Böttcherstraße is a historic street in the heart of Bremen that is noted for its impressive architectural emsemble. Brick Expressionist and Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) buildings line the 100 metre long street that runs from the main market square towards the Weser river. The luminous golden relief of Lichtbringer marks the entrance. Highlights include the 16th century Renaissance style Roselius House which has the Ludwig Roselius Museum and the quintessential Expressionist Paula Modersohn-Becker Museum at numbers 6-10, the Art Deco Atlantic House at number 4, Haus der 7 Faulen at number 7 which has Gothic Revival influences, and the Robinson Crusoe House. There is a carillon of 30 Meissen porcelain bells at the Glockenspiel House that chimes thrice a day, setting in motion a wooden display of seafarers and aviators. With several museums and shops, it is one of the biggest attractions in Bremen.
