The Boston Navy Yard, earlier known as the Charlestown Navy Yard, is part of the Boston National Historical Park.

The Boston Navy Yard, earlier known as the Charlestown Navy Yard, is part of the Boston National Historical Park. More than 200 warships were built here from its foundation in 1800 upto its closing in 1974. The iconic museum warships USS Constitution and USS Cassin Young are berthed here. Nicknamed 'Old Ironsides', the USS Constitution defeated five British warships during the War of 1812 and served as a training ship for the United States Naval Academy during the American Civil War. USS Cassin Young was a World War II Fletcher-class destroyer, and is a memorial ship today.

Take a tour of the Naval Yard to see the Forge Shop, Dry Dock I, Marine Barracks that housed the Marines, the elegant Commandant's House which is the oldest building in the yard, the octagonal Muster House which was used for taking roll of employees, and the Ropewalk which produced high quality ropes for naval ships.
