The Zunfthaus zur Meisen is the guild house of the Zunft zur Meisen - the guild of vintners, inn keepers, saddlers and painters. Built in Baroque style in 1757 by David Morf, it has elegant Rococo interiors with wall paintings by Johann Balthasar Bullinger, tiled tower-stoves by Leonhard Locher and Hans Jakob Hofmann, and ornate stucco ceilings by Tyrolian master Johan Schuler. It houses the collection of 18th century porcelain figures and faience items of the Swiss National Museum. One of the most beautiful buildings in Zurich, it has attracted a host of notable people such as Gottfried Keller, Queen Elizabeth II, King Gustav of Sweden, and Winston Churchill.
