Commonly known as 'Te Papa', the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa is the national museum and art gallery of New Zealand. The striking waterfront building has 6 floors of exhibits on Māori history and culture, Pacific Island cultures, New Zealand's geological and natural history, and Kiwi art. Highlights include a 495 kg Colossal Squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) that is 4.2 metres long, garments dating back to the 16th century, 20,000 stamps and related objects from the New Zealand Post Archives, the Earthquake House, and the whakairo in the Te Hono ki Hawaiki marae cultural space.
