Capitol Hill is a historic neighborhood in Washington DC that gets its name from the iconic congressional building that overlooks it. It is the USA's epicenter of power, home to some of the chief pillars of government -– the House of Representatives and Senate at the Capitol Building, House and Senate office buildings, and the Supreme Court. It is bordered by the Anacostia River to the east, National Mall to the west, Washington Navy Yard to the south and H Street corridor to the north. The area also has other important buildings such as the Library of Congress, Marine Barracks on Barracks Row, and Congressional Cemetery.

For a break from the awe-inspiring mighty institutions that dot the area, head to the Eastern Market which offers a good array of produce, delicacies and souvenirs. The Folger Shakespeare Library nearby houses the world's largest collection of the printed works of the Bard of Avon. The U.S. Botanic Garden at the base of Capitol Hill is another relaxing retreat.
