Rathaus Schöneberg was the seat of the West Berlin government and Governing Mayor during the pre-unification era. Its steps are famous as the site of US President John F. Kennedy's address on 26 June 1963, declaring his solidarity with the citizens as 'Ich bin ein Berliner'. Today it is the town hall for the borough of Tempelhof-Schöneberg.
