The Beacon of Hope on Thanksgiving Square is currently the second largest public art sculpture in Belfast, a towering 19.5 metre high stainless steel and bronze structure by Andy Scott. Located on the banks of the Lagan river, it depicts a female form derived from Classical and Celtic mythology, holding the 'ring of thanksgiving'. The globe on which it stands represents unity on earth, and points on the sculpture represent Belfast's industrial heritage.
