Dedicated to the patron saint of businessmen - Guan Yu, the Hsing Tian Kong or Xingtian Temple is one of the most popular temples in the city. Along with the branches in in Zhongyi Mountain in the Beitou District and Baiji Mountain in Sanxia District, it forms the 'Three Palaces of Heaven'. The Taoist temple incorporates Buddhist teachings and Confucian tradition.
It was built in 1967 by Master Hsuan Kung in a modern architectural style with traditional elements. It has 2 main gates – the Xun Gate (Wind Gate), and Kun Gate (Earth Gate), which lead to the front hall. The colonnaded façade features sculpted dragon pillars, surmounted by the traditional red ridged roof with dragons for warding off evil and auspicious phoenixes. The front door has 108 golden pegs representing the 108 celestial deities who guard the temple. The Hu Long leads to the main hall, which has shrines to Guan Shengdi Jun, Fuyou Emperor Lv En Lord Dongbin, Jiu Tian Si Ming Zhen Jun Zhang En Master, Guan Shengtaiziping, and Zhou Enshicang.
