Botany Bay along the southern suburbs of Sydney is known for Port Botany which is greater metropolitan Sydney's main cargo seaport, and the Kamay Botany Bay National Park which is recognized for its indigenous flora. Highlights of the park are La Perouse which is associated with 18thcentury French exploration, and the Kurnell Peninsula where Captain Cook first landed in 1770 on the HMS Endeavour. Botany Bay lies at the confluence of the Georges River at Taren Point and the Cooks River at Kyeemagh, with the Grand Parade running along the shore between the two points.
