Beckford's Tower, originally known as Lansdown Tower, is a 120 foot neo-classical tower that was built in 1827 to house wealthy novelist William Beckford’s collection of art and rare books.

Beckford's Tower, originally known as Lansdown Tower, is a 120 foot neo-classical tower that was built in 1827 to house wealthy novelist William Beckford’s collection of art and rare books. The museum displays furniture originally made for the Tower, as well as paintings, prints and artifacts illustrating Beckford’s life as a writer, collector and patron of the arts. The Belvedere at the top of the spiral staircase offers panoramic views of the Somerset countryside around Bath. The surrounding Victorian Cemetery has over 5000 graves, including Beckford’s monumental marble tomb.
