Ta Keo, Siem Reap

Ta Keo was built circa 1000 as the state temple of Jayavarman V, son of Rajendravarman.

Ta Keo was built circa 1000 as the state temple of Jayavarman V, son of Rajendravarman. The Khleang-style temple is surrounded by a moat and has five 50 metre tall sanctuary towers of sandstone arranged in a quincunx, built on the uppermost level of a 5-tier pyramid which represents Mount Meru. As Jayavarman V passed away before the sanctuary was completed, and subsequent completion efforts were interrupted due to various events, the temple remains unfinished to this day.
