The Gothic-style Spalentor is a former gate in the ancient city walls of Basel, completed in 1398 as part of the fortification built after the earthquake of 1356. Flanked on each side by 2 round towers, the brick façade has a clock and figures of the Madonna and two prophets. It is one of the 3 remaining medieval city gates of the original 7 that led into the city.
