Originally the home base of San Francisco's fishing fleet, Fisherman's Wharf today is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city. Occupying the northern waterfront area from Van Ness Avenue to Pier 35, the sprawling park has a host of dining, shopping, and entertainment options. or Kearny Street. The F-Market & Wharves Streetcar provides a convenient way of getting around the strip.

  • Pier 39 is a shopping and entertainment complex with retail outlets, restaurants, a video arcade, Aquarium of the Bay with Sea Lion Center, virtual 3D rides, and a marina with the floating Forbes Island restaurant and California sea lions. At the bay end is the San Francisco carousel, painted with images of famous San Francisco landmarks such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, and Alcatraz. There is live entertainment by street performers at the Crystal Geyser Alpine Spring Water Stage. There are several bay cruises that depart from Pier 39.
  • The Cannery is a historic brick warehouse from 1908 which once belonged to Del Monte, but now houses the San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park Visitor Center with the Maritime Museum, and a shopping center.
  • Ghirardelli Square, named after the chocolate company which occupied the site, is surrounded by several shops and restaurants.
  • Ripley's Believe it or Not! presents over 400 curious artifacts and oddities from around the world, which range from silly to gruesome.
  • Mus?e M?canique has one of the world?s largest privately-owned collections of mechanically operated musical instruments and arcade machines.
  • The Madame Tussauds Wax Museum gives visitors an opportunity to get up close with wax models of their favorite celebrities. The adjacent San Francisco Dungeon retells the history of the city with interactive sets and scary special effects.
  • World War II naval vessels docked on the Wharf transport you back in time to the tumultuous era of sea battles ? Liberty ship S.S. Jeremiah O?Brien and submarine USS Pampanito. Hyde Street Pier has other historic vessels, including the side-wheel paddle steamboat Eureka.
  • Anchorage Square is a shopping complex with several eateries.
