The 640 metres high Kapuzinerberg lies on the eastern bank of the Salzach River and is a popular recreational spot. Its main attraction is the 16th century Kapuzinerkloster or Capuchin Monastery at the top, which was established by bishop Wolf Dietrich as a stronghold against the Reformation. The Stefan Zweig Weg that leads from the Felixtor gateway to the Monastery is lined with chapels marking the Stages of the Cross.
The Kapuzinberg Hill also has the Church of St. Johann am Imberg from 1681, a monument to Mozart, the Franziskischlössl that was part of the 17th century defensive walls, Paschingerschlössl that was once the residence of Stefan Zweig, the Hettwer Bastion which offers incredible views over Salzburg, and an old defensive wall with Auslug (watchtowers). It has several hiking trails and greenery that attracts a lot of locals as well as tourists.
