The Colonna di Marco Aurelio or Column of Marcus Aurelius, also known as Aurelian Column, is a 2nd century Roman victory column commemorating the Emperor's victorious military campaigns in the north against the Germanic Marcomannis, Quadis and Sarmatian Iazyges invasions, which lasted from 166 AD to his death in 180 AD.

The hollow 30 metre high Doric column is made of Carrara marble with an internal stairway leading to the top, on which stands a bronze statue of the apostle St Paul. Its exterior spiral high-relief depicts events of the Marcomannic Wars that took place along the Danube, including the legendary Rain Miracle in which a God created a heavy shower to rescue the parched Roman troops from their enemies when they were on the brink of surrender.
