Sunshine Meadows, Banff

Located in Banff National Park at an altitude of 2300 metres, the Sunshine Meadows straddle the Continental Divide of the Americas.

Located in Banff National Park at an altitude of 2300 metres, the Sunshine Meadows straddle the Continental Divide of the Americas. The natural gardens are carpeted with alpine vegetation, and become awash with the colors of wildflowers and lichen during the summer months of June to August. With the onset of fall in September, the Meadows turn brilliant shades of red, orange and gold. You can take a shuttle to reach the Meadows, but hiking is recommended for trail views. From the trailhead at Sunshine Village, it is a 1.8 km hike to the viewpoint above Rock Isle Lake, and a further 4.9 kms on the Grizzly-Larix Lakes Loop for exploring the Sunshine Meadows.
