Blue Lagoon, Reykjavik

The Blue Lagoon is a surreal geothermal spa nestled in a lava field in Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula with mineral-rich warm waters. The artificial lagoon is fed by water from the nearby Svartsengi geothermal power plant, with temperatures at 37 C - 40 C. The dissolved silicates give the waters a milky blue hue, which looks ethereal in the beautiful natural setting. Apart from the massive pool which varies in depth from 0.8 metres to 1.6 metres, the complex has a sauna and steam room, waterfall, and a relaxing area.

40 minute long guided tours of the site are available on request, and take visitors through the geological activity that led to the formation of the lagoon.
