Housed in a former fish freezing factory in Grandi, the Vikin Maritime Museum explores Icelandic maritime history and the fishing industry from the early settlements to the late 20th century. It has 3 permanent exhibitions -

  • The History of Sailing traces the country's maritime history and the development of Reykjavik Harbor.
  • From Poverty to Abundance traces changes in Icelandic fisheries at the turn of the 20th century, from Farsæll style rowboats in the 19th century to larger deep sea trawlers, decked boats and cutters in the 20th century. It also showcases the lives of Icelandic fishermen, who lived in coastal cottages during the fishing season.
  • Coast Guard Vessel Óðinn is a decommissioned offshore patrol vessel of the Icelandic Coast Guard that is docked in the harbor. Apart from monitoring Iceland's territorial fishing waters, it served in all 3 Cod Wars. Guided tours conducted daily at 1 pm, 2 pm and 3 pm take visitors around the ship and explain its role and history.

Admission is ISK 1600 for adults and ISK 900 for students, while children below 17 years, senior citizens over 67 years, and disabled persons can visit for free. Guided tours of Óðinn cost ISK 1300, and combined ticket is ISK 2400.
