Museum Subak, Bali

The Subak Museum presents traditional Balinese agricultural methods through artifacts, documents and multimedia.

The Subak Museum presents traditional Balinese agricultural methods through artifacts, documents and multimedia. The open air area showcases the subak or irrigation system of pools, canals, weirs, and tunnels used by farmers since the 9th century to supply their paddy fields. It is an ecologically sustainable system that draws on the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana which refers to harmony between people, nature and God. Also on display in the museum are ploughs, harvesting tools, insect traps, and various equipment used in the fields.
