The French Legation is a historic building that was built in 1841 for Alphonse Dubois de Saligny, the chargé d'affaires who represented the French government in the Republic of Texas. With elements of Greek Revival and vernacular Creole architecture, it has period furniture such as an armchair and sofa that belonged to Dubois, early 19th century French cooking antiques, Robertson family (later occupants) furniture from the 1820s to the 1880s, and various donated items.
