Housed in the historic Old Customs House Building, Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium displays live exhibits, mounted specimens, animatronic displays and multimedia presentations that give you up-close glimpses of the insect world.

Housed in the historic Old Customs House Building, Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium displays live exhibits, mounted specimens, animatronic displays and multimedia presentations that give you up-close glimpses of the insect world. The highlight of any visit here is the 'Butterflies in Flight' exhibit that recreates a unique Japanese garden that hosts various multi-colored free-flying butterflies. Other attractions here are the Termite Gallery, Metamorphosis Gallery where you can see butterflies in different stages (larvae, caterpillars and then chrysalis morphing into adult butterflies), Louisiana Swamp Gallery and Bug Appetit where you can watch chefs incorporate bugs into dishes and taste their creations.
