Popularly known as Birla Mandir, the Lakshmi Narayan Mandir next to Connaught Place is a big impressive Hindu temple complex dedicated to the Goddess Lakshmi and her consort Narayan (Vishnu) who together are known as Lakshminarayan. The main Nagara style edifice has carvings depicting scenes from Hindu mythology, and marble idols of Lakshmi-Narayan. Spread over 7.5 acres with shrines, fountains and a park, it is an oasis of calm away from the busy roads of Delhi.
