The Konigsplatz is a wide open square that was originally laid out in the early 19thcentury as part of the royal avenue Brienner Straße. Originally the square was surrounded by European Neo Classical style structures such as the Propyläen, Glyptothek, and the Antikensammlungen, while the Nazis added several structures such as the Führerbau which has the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, and the two Ehrentempel (Honor Temples) which are survived by their platforms only.
