Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Mumbai

The Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, previously known as 'Victoria Terminus', is the headquarters of the Western Railways of India.

The Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, previously known as 'Victoria Terminus', is the headquarters of the Western Railways of India. The Victorian Gothic Revival building from 1888 is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its excellent fusion of British architecture with Indian craftsmanship. The columns of the entrance gates are crowned by statues of a lion (representing Great Britain) and a tiger (representing India). The sandstone and limestone structure has an imposing facade with white limestone detail, stone carvings of local flora and fauna, arched tympana, portrait roundels of human faces, and stone mesh works on the decorated rose windows.

Adjacent to the CST station is General Post Office, a grand building which is open 24 hours. The road goes further up to Ballard Estate where a lot of Corporate Offices and Mumbai Port is situated.
