Located in the illustrious Lumière brothers' house on Rue du Premier-Film, the Institut Lumiere museum presents an interesting history of cinema through various items and film excerpts. The highlight of the museum is the cinematograph which was invented and patented by the Lumieres. Also on display are devices such as Photoramas and Autochrome plates as well as various production tools that they invented and utilized. The theatre in the museum shows thematic series of cinema masterpieces in original version. The Art Nouveau building is worth seeing in itself for the lovely architecture, and features in the first movie in history (La sortie des usines Lumière).
