The Place des Terreaux is a large square in the heart of Lyon in the Presqu'ile district.

The Place des Terreaux is a large square in the heart of Lyon in the Presqu'ile district. It was completely redesigned in the 1990s by artist Daniel Buren with 69 granite fountains lined with 14 pillars. On the east side stands the City Hall. To the north is the lead sculpture Char triomphant de la Garonne by Bartholdi (creator of the Statue of Liberty), with a quadriga of four horses pulling a chariot, symbolising the Garonne and its tributaries galloping seawards. It faces Palais St Pierre, which hosts the Museum of Fine Arts.
