Griffith Park

  Nature and Parks

The iconic poster for 'La La Land' had every movie-goer search for the magical location where the romantic shot was filmed. It was shot right here in Griffith Park, along with the song 'A Lovely Night'. A former ostrich farm, Griffith Park is today the second largest park within a city in the United States, spread over 4210 acres of undulating land. It is a great place for hikes, picnics, and hanging around with friends. The hiking trails lead up to Mulholland Drive, and provide great views of the city. The park encompasses the Bronson Canyon, a golf course, driving range, horseback riding ranch, Greek Theater, the Autry western museum, Live Steamers, and Mount Hollywood with its 'HOLLYWOOD' sign and Griffith Observatory. The Observatory has a planetarium, and displays astronomical tools as well as a Tesla coil. The 'La La Land' levitation scene was also filmed here. Griffith Park has several options for kids, including the L.A. Zoo, 'Travel Town' which is a free exhibition of old trains and model trains with trains rides, and pony rides.
