The Ponte 25 de Abril or 25th of April Bridge across the Tagus river resembles the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco.
The Ponte 25 de Abril or 25th of April Bridge across the Tagus river resembles the Golden Gate bridge in San Francisco. The 2,277 meter long suspension bridge was built in 1966 as Salazar Bridge, and renamed in 1974 to commemorate the Carnation Revolution. Cars run on the upper deck and trains on the lower deck. Overlooking a beautiful marina with docks, the bridge has been a popular filming location, seen in films such as the Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service, and Sweet Nightmare.
