The Shoren-in Temple, built in the 13th century, is one of the five monzeki temples of the Tendai Buddhist sect in Kyoto.

The Shoren-in Temple, built in the 13th century, is one of the five monzeki temples of the Tendai Buddhist sect in Kyoto. During the Tokugawa period, it served as temporary imperial residence after the main palace burned down in 1788.
