Nature and Parks

The Alster lakes are 13th century man-made lakes on the Alster river, and the Aussenalster or Outer Alster Lake which lies outside the erstwhile city walls of Hamburg is the larger of the two. Boating, rowing, and sailing are popular activities on the lake. During summer, there are also ATG Alster tourist cruises which stop around the lake at ●Atlantic, ●Rabenstrasse, ●Uhlenhorster Fährhaus, ●Fährdamm, ●Mühlenkamp, ●Krugkoppelbrücke, and ●Streekbrücke. The area around the lake has public grasslands as well as beautiful homes of the wealthy. Stroll around to marvel at the Jugendstil architecture, see the white swans, or play a sport on the greens - options are numerous here.
