Located in the late-Gothic building of the former Carmelite monastery in Frankfurt's Old Town, the Archaeological Museum Frankfurt traces the history of the city and its surroundings in archaeologically relevant epochs, from the Prehistoric era through Roman, Medieval and more recent periods.

Located in the late-Gothic building of the former Carmelite monastery in Frankfurt's Old Town, the Archaeological Museum Frankfurt traces the history of the city and its surroundings in archaeologically relevant epochs, from the Prehistoric era through Roman, Medieval and more recent periods. It also has an exhibition on the Orient as well as an antique collection.

The Prehistoric collection in the church transept, spanning from the Paleolithic Era to the Late Iron Age, showcases excavated finds from sites in the region such as the Neolithic farming settlements in Praunheim, Höchst, and Niedereschbach, Bronze Age graves and treasures, Iron Age graves and other finds from settlements like the late-Celtic Oppidum Goldgrube near Oberursel.

The collection of antiquities dating from the Mycenaean period (14th - 12th century BC) to the early Roman period (5th century BC) is housed in the new annex building designed by Josef Paul Kleihues. On display are ceramics, bronze and glass, terracotta statues, weapons and jewellery from the Mediterranean region. It also houses an exhibition of Middle Eastern artifacts including finds from ancient Iranian, Anatolia and Syria.

The Roman Era collection displayed in the nave of the church dates back to the Nida-Heddernheim settlement from 83 AD to 260 AD and sheds light on the milieu of the period. On display are Jupiter-gigan columns, artifacts from temples dedicated to Mithras, cavalry equipment, paint pots with ancient pigments, stelae and funerary objects.

St Anne's Chapel displays the Medieval collection of finds from the era of the Alemanns and Franks in the early Middle Ages to the Carolingian Period.

Admission is € 7 for adults, € 3.50 for students and disabled persons, and free for children under 18 years.
