The Military Museum of Kalamata traces the military history of Kalamata from the Battle of Kalamata in 1821 which ended Ottoman occupation, to the present day. It covers the Macedonian Struggle, Balkan Wars, Asia Minor Catastrophe, the World Wars, battles of Ochura and Crete, the Middle East and the National Resistance. It highlights not only war efforts, but also peacekeeping operations in Somalia, Korea, former Yugoslavia, the Gulf War and Afghanistan. Exhibits comprise photographs, audio-visual presentations, paintings, uniforms, military equipment, guns, tanks, armored vehicles, aircraft, and other memorabilia. Entry to the Military Museum is free.
