The Olveston Historic House was built in 1904-'06 for Dunedin businessman, collector and philanthropist David Theomin. Designed by Sir Ernest George in Jacobean style, the 35 room mansion is an opulent affair with interiors by Green & Abbott. It is furnished with fine art, ceramics, furniture, and artifacts from around the world. After Dorothy Theomin bequeathed the house to the City of Dunedin in 1966, it was opened to the public as a historic house museum. Explore the sprawling mansion to admire the art on display, and get a glimpse into the lifestyle of the wealthy in the early 20th century.
